Melissa Tschegg, DVM

Dr. Melissa Tschegg has been a lifelong lover of animals.  When she was only three years old, she declared she would become a veterinarian. Perhaps she watched too many Muppets episodes incessantly watching “Rowlf the Dog aka Dr. Bob” hard at work as a veterinarian. Maybe being a veterinarian was just in her DNA.  Both sides of her family were classical, subsistence midwestern farmers in Missouri.  They grew a variety of crops as well as raised and cared for numerous animals. Over the years, her pets included llamas, ducks, geese, chickens, rabbits, cats, dogs, and even a horse.  During the summers, she worked at an alpaca and llama farm training and exhibiting numerous animals in show circuits across the country.

In 2001 she fulfilled her dream of becoming a veterinarian, graduating from the University of Missouri College of Veterinary Medicine. Of course, her favorite activity in the clinic is cuddling with all the sweet, soft babies she has the privilege of meeting. She also enjoys preventative medicine as well as dentistry and soft tissue surgery.

A majority of her time outside the clinic is spent with her husband, two sons, friends and extended family. She also likes to be active and cook delicious, healthy food.  She and her son won a national cooking competition for healthy lunches and were invited to meet the President and eat a State Dinner at the White House.

She has been a pet parent to several cats and dogs over the years including a Great Pyrenes, Border Collie mix, and an Alaskan Malamute. She currently has a cat and 7 chickens.
